About Us

The Institute for Software Process Improvement (ISPI) is the longest-running Capability Maturity Model-focused company in the world. Founded by co-authors of the original CMM, and later including the SE-CMM team lead, ISPI prides itself on basic, risk-focused, pragmatic application of the maturity models.

ISPI is also a pioneer in practicing iterative methods within the context of the maturity models, avoiding Waterfall as the default interpretation of the process areas or using it to guide the order of improvements. Business or MIssion value of systems development practices, and addressing key risks as suggested by maturity models, has always been our focus.
