Capability Counts 2019 to Feature Keynote by Eric Ries, Author of The Lean Startup

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Author Eric Ries, influential founder of the lean-startup movement, will keynote Capability Counts 2019, CMMI Institute’s business performance improvement event, scheduled 30 April–1 May 2019 in Reston, Virginia, USA.

Ries, the author of The Lean Startup and an advocate of lean startup methodology to help new companies to succeed and established companies to innovate, is expected to speak about the movement that continues to transform how new products are built and launched.

He also is expected to weave in themes from his other writings, including The Startup Way, which focuses on modern entrepreneurial management, and material referenced in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Inc., Wired and Fast Company, among other outlets.

The annual Capability Counts will focus on appraisals, CMMI® adoption, data management, improvement ROI, methodology and quality. Attendees will learn about CMMI’s work in government entities and the healthcare industry based on the CMMI V2.0, as well as its emerging presence in the cybersecurity arena, with its CMMI Cybermaturity Platform.

“Capability Counts gathers the community who has embraced capability as imperative to performance-driven outcomes,” said Kirk Botula, CMMI Institute CEO. “This year’s conference promises to address some of the most high-impact and compelling innovations and transformations in business now.

“We also are excited to share how CMMI V2.0 is advancing the state of the practice and serving as the foundation for organizational performance improvements,” Botula continued. “We will share specific applications in improving the performance of agile at scale, innovation and medical device safety. Additionally, CMMI will show how the Cybermaturity Platform is building board confidence by taking a risk-based approach to capability.”

Attendees will be able to select sessions from 10 tracks:

• CMMI: One Size DOES Fit All
• Exploring CMMI V2.0
• Improving Capability in the Medical Device Industry
• Managing Your Data for Peak Performance
• Leveraging Tools for Greater Capability
• From Practice to Excellence
• Creative Approaches to CMMI Adoption
• Business Performance with CMMI: The Bottom Line
• Improving Quality with CMMI
• Building Resilience Through Greater Cybersecurity Capability

A conference highlight will be the fourth annual Capability Challenge, where participants show how they’ve helped improve business performance by building organizational capability. The competition profiles leaders who share unique stories on how they’ve improved performance, quality, and/or profitability in their organizations.

Capability Counts 2019 marks a succession of growth and momentum for CMMI Institute. Last December, CMMI expanded its Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) V2.0 product suite, adding Services and Supplier Management views to the model’s globally recognized set of best practices, benchmark tools, appraisal and performance measurement guidance. Its CMMI Development V2.0 was launched earlier in March. CMMI Institute also updated its Cybermaturity Platform with the latest best practices to build cybersecurity resilience in November. The platform was launched in April 2018.
