SPEAKER PRESENTATION

Integrating Agile, Waterfall, and CMMI in the DoD

Conference Track: Achieving Capability in Regulated and Government Environments

The 76th Software Maintenance Group at Tinker Air Force Base has a 30 year history of successfully developing and maintaining software for DoD customers around the world using the waterfall development model, and in 2014, the group’s standard waterfall processes were appraised at CMMI Maturity Level 3. Following the recent growth in the popularity of Agile, and as a result of the group’s strong culture of innovation, some projects requested a pilot to investigate the use of Agile Scrum methods. This presentation will highlight the challenges and successes experienced in the lead-up to the group’s re-appraisal in 2017 with a mix of waterfall and Agile projects.
